Agnes: Earlybird flock? Our deepest condolences on the loss of your Daffodil.

Martha: We all mean it, Agnes just got to say it.

Charlotte: Everychicken, Shhh!!!

Bessie: Don't shush us, Charlotte! That's more rude than any commotion we were making!

Charlotte: No, Bessie, I hear something, but can't make out what the sound could be.
*Please* shush...is that better?

Emily: Oh! I hear it, too. What IS that?

(all chickens cocking their heads to better catch the mysterious noise...)

Charlotte: But, girls, we must be brave!

Anne: Brave is one thing, sneaking out of our coop when it's still dark outside is something else entirely.

Agnes: Anne, dear, you know how proud you are that your middle name is Junior? Well, the original Junior was a superbe detective! Don't you want to get to the bottom of this mystery?

Anne: I suppose so...

Bessie: C'mon, troops! Shake out those feathers and get a move on! The last time we debated so much before making it to the house to get to the dumbputer, it went on so long that Mama came downstairs right when we were finally ready to make our move.

Martha: I hear the sound! There it is again; what *is* that?

Emily: It seems somehow farmiliar. So much so, that it doesnt really frighten me anymore.

Agnes: Oh, gracious...

Charlotte: What is it, Agnes? Are you alright?

Agnes: Yes, thank you, dear. I...I just feel a tad faint...

(all chickens cluster around Agnes, clucking worriedly over one another's questions and fanning Agnes with their wings)

Agnes: I think I know why the sound isn't wholly foriegn to us. Does everychicken remember when Mama showed us those videos of when we were so little that we lived in the house full-time, and, we thought that toasty red lamp was the sun?

(all chickens nodding solemnly and holding their questions, for once, waiting for Agnes to continue)

Agnes: It seems to me that we heard the same noise in that video...

Martha: But, if the mystery noise is something inside the house, wouldn't we have been hearing it all year?

Charlotte: Martha, I think what Agnes is trying to say is that *WE* were the ones making the sound!

Agnes: Precicely, Charlotte, dear. Girls (drawing in a deep, fortifying breath), I perceive that Mama perhaps brought home some (dropping her cluck to a whisper)...peeps.

(a cocophany ensues as all chickens try to speak over one another)

Bessie: Oh, great, now the sun is coming up and we never even made it out of our coop.

Emily: Well, we're getting out now. I hear Mama on the stairs!

Charlotte: Quick! Back on the roosting bar!

Agnes: Don't forget to feign sleepiness, girls!
