Tired Of It All

I like my job. I just do not like a couple of my co-workers.

It has been a very trying week DD had our county fair so I was in town from Wednesday til today either working or doing 4-H stuff.

Have 3 new girls working there. One girl we have had for awhile is leaving at the end of the month.

What happened is on Saturday I came into work and was immediately accosted by one of the new girls. She accused me of calling her foul names, then told me that if her name ever crossed my lips again I would be sorry. I had no idea what she was talking about. She did this in front of another co-worker inside the store and next to the office with a manager inside. Manager never came out or said anything.

When she went out for a break and was alone I went outside and talked with her. Turns out she had been told this in a beer garden by a bunch of drunks.

I am getting really sick of this garbage.

Not sure if I really want to work there anymore with these people. I have considered not even going in to work on some mornings.

I just don't know what to do. I miss my grandmother who would give me advice.

Hugs,.I am sorry you had to go through that.Kind of reminds me of the chicken pecking order, and a newbie establishing their position. If it is a good job don't give it up. Take the high ground. So much for that manager!

Also would be keeping my eyes and ears open for better jobs.Sadly this sort of issue is in many workplaces.

I would ignore it. Some people like to stir a ruckus. She doesn't sign your check or pay your bills. MOST jobs have women AND MEN that are like that. Don't allow it to run you away from your job. Just be nice and tell her if you have a problem, she would be the first to know, not your co workers.

Sad thing is these drunks tried to break up my marriage a few years ago with their rumors and stuff.

I just think she should have talked to me alone and outside instead of inside the store with her friend at her back. I did feel a bit threatened. I was wondering if they were going to jump me,

Just tired of that crap.

There are a couple other places I could work but one is over 25 miles away and the other is a waitress job. My foot bothers me enough and I don't think I could do it anymore.

It sounds like you handled it very well.  Maybe your "manager" could take some lessons!

I'm really sorry that you've been treated this way.  There's no excuse for that kind of behavior at work.  Harassing, intimidating, and threatening fellow workers goes far beyond the scope of the normal workplace environment.

I talked with my boss today behind a closed door. They were not happy to hear about this, but unforunately unless another worker or customer heard it or saw it there is not much they can do.

They said that these workers are jealous over the fact that I am willing to work and if things are slow look for things to do instead of asking to go home.

I'm just ignoring them. Turns out the one that accosted me is hanging out with the not so nice bar crowd. Told me she was trying to build a reputation well with that group she won't have a nice reputation.

Dont sweat them. Dont let anyone run you off of a job. If you lose that job..you lose money... for who? Them? NO way... then they win..
Just hold your head up and smile at them..
