Thinking about Australorps ned info!!! :) - Page 3

I vote for the Australorpe.  My one girl is almost 6 years old and still lays like a champ, almost every day except during her molt.  Her temperament is great and she's very quiet.  And since the Australorpe originates from Australia, I'd say they would be perfect for you.  Good luck in whatever you choose.

i havent had mine for very long but they are great, mine are quite timid and easily scared, but not easily put of the lay. ive had no experience with Australorps so i dont know how to compare but i think australorps are much nicer.

Should probably stop "accidentally" buying more chickens!!!

14 hens 6 pullets 1 duck 6 chicks and 5 quails, still reckon I could fit some more in....somewhere!!!!

I have an Australorp X hen and she's great. Lays very very well and she's about 6 years old. She hatched out some chicks in January and she was a very good mom too.

I haven't had pure RIR though I would've loved some! I only hear good things about them. I had X's and they laid very well, they have a nice temperament and I would definitely recommend them as well.
