Howdy from Oregon's Wine Country!

I should have started here before I jumped in with some huge posts elsewhere ... my bad!

 

I'm Leslie from Sherwood, Oregon. I started a chicken coop co-op with some of the people who work for and with our farm (nursery). My little town is not yet chicken-friendly, but I live outside the city limits so can have as many hens and roosters as I want -- we've got more than 70 already, and are thinking about getting more with the September hatchings. Some of our hens have just started to lay. Pretty soon I'm going to have more eggs than I know what to do with! 

 

I knew I wanted eggs, but I had no idea how much I would LOVE the chickens. It is nice to find a whole community of people interested in chickens, and fun to see that some of you are just as gaga about your birds as I am.

2 Buff Orpingtons, , 2 Australorps, 2 Bantam EE, 2 Delawares, 2 Barnevelders, 2 blue mixed something, 1 "Orpicana",1 Polish mix that looks like a roadrunner! A black Bantam Faverolles rooster named Henry. And 2 Australian Spotted ducks.

2 horses, 4 dogs, 2 cats.

Always calibrate your hygrometer before you incubate!!

70 birds, that's cool. You could sell the eggs if you're allowed, I guess. They make good gifts for friends too. tongue.png
