Free Range or Not? What Does Everyone Prefer?

flighty ones will have the tendency to stray away and get adventurous. might as well search in this forum galleries for best run and coop designs that will give you ideas. roosting the birds takes time and you have to "teach" them where to find the roost and settle in for the night.
 
right but halks can just kill them on the spot and eat them that happened a few times to me so I put them in a electric fence and put a net with posts around it
 
I guess i am lucky my chickens don't leave my yard all though they do set on top of my fence but thee funny if they see any other birds come in there yard they puff up real big and they all go running at the invaders full speed ahead unto they run them off iam just wandering when they start laying where they will hide the eggs they don't like the hen house i don't know why i can nearly get them to come and eat out side of it
 
I have three on a 1/2 acre yard with privacy fence and they stay within the fence. They hate the mockingbirds though and also chase squirrels out of the yard. Fine by me since the squirrels steal the peaches off the tree!
