new to byc

Thread Starter

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? Never had chickens but raised ducks a looooong time ago when I was a kid. We got the chickens with less than twenty-four hours notice after just mentioning that we were concidering getting some at church.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?  Right now we have 14 hens.

(3) What breeds do you have? Red ones, black ones, mixed colored ones and white ones.  Obviously I don't have a clue!

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? I was referred to BYC when I tried to get info from someone who is more interested in getting me to buy his book than helping me know what I am doing

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Quilting, leather work, and gardening.

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.  We just retired and are trying to become self sufficient before the world goes somewhere in a hand basket.  I should let you know that I am techno-impaired so if I don't answer it probably means that I couldn't figure out how to get this blasted computer to work.

Helen: Daria, do you have to look at everything in such a negative light?

Daria: Could you possibly be referring to the harsh light of reality?
