French Black Copper Marans Rooster or Hen?

here are my French black copper marans. they are 5 to 6 months old. I was told when they were sold to me that they were hens. So this morning I woke up and the one in front in the pic above started to lightly make a roosting noise. So now Im confused. can any one tell me if these are in fact female and do you all know when they will start laying?
