Anybody have chicks shipping Monday August 27? - Page 8

My five chicks are getting too big too fast! The past couple of days they have been getting some outdoor time in the run of their future coop. At four days old I gave them some Greek yogurt which they ended up falling in rather than eating it. But now they are getting the concept of treats. They have been getting yogurt, hard boiled eggs, and chopped greens. They are all getting used to handling and one of them, a barred rock, just sits there and lets you scoop her ( hopefully tongue.png)  up! Their wings and tails are already getting feathers. As much as I am looking forward to those eggs, I want them to stay chicks!

K so I have been soooo busy with the baby chicks and my kids so sorry I haven't posted till now:(
Mine are all doing awesome I hope! We have named all three pepper is the Plymouth rock and nana and midnight are the austrelops! They are soooo fun and seem to like us when we hold them but they sometimes run away when we first try to get them:(
So I didn't know that I could give them treats and I didn't know we could take them outside if it's good weather! What should I give them for treats? And I am a little worried. Ause sometimes their poop is runny:( what should I do?

Well no outside trip yet, darn hurricane! But we needed the rain so bad! I think I will go look and see what treats I can give them. Thanks for the reminder LThompson!

My girls are doing good smile.png I haven't posted in a bit because incubating eggs, work, and the chicks have kept me running. The little sultan girl has a name now. I've named her Nova. The little leghorn needs a name, though. What's a cute name for a leghorn? Suggestions appreciated big_smile.png
I was gonna take them outside today but it was too rainy. Perhaps Thursday. I think they'll be getting some nice scrambled egg tomorrow too.

If your going to take them outside that will be a big treat in its self. If you take them outside make sure you have a secure place for them. They are very quick and maybe hard to catch and can squeeze into very small places! Keep an eye out for predators! Suppose to be sunny here today so I think we might be able to make outside. Treats are ok to give but if your having runny stool issues I would hold off. Treats are not necessary. Good luck!

Here's my girls at 1.5 weeks old, they are so cute all crashed out together, they remind me of a pile of puppies, lol.

I just received my new baby chicks from MyPetChicken.com and they all came alive and well.

I have 4 Buff Orphingtons and 4 Barred Plymouth Rocks all females.  They are cuties....keeping them in

a cardboard box in garage with a light in it.

They seem to be doing fine, no patsy butt or anything and they are eating and drinking well.

Anything I need to be on the lookout for in these first few weeks?  When can they be put in an outside pen?

How old do they need to be?fl.gif

Took my girls outside today for the first time, they actually acted like they could care less.  A couple of them pecked around a little, but my biggest one, the RIR, she just screamed her brains out the entire time until I put her back in the brooder.  She's a big bully when she is chasing the others, but as soon as she feels threatened she turns into a screamer, lol.
