That's to funny! lau.gif I took mine outside and the biggest one who I am wondering if it is a roo or not gets to far away from me and starts peeping really loud. They loved being outside they started jumping and flapping their little nubby wings! It was to cute!

Funny how each chick has it's own personality.  A cricket got into the cardboard box

I keep them in and it was so cute watching them chase each other around trying to

get a piece of the cricket.....haven't tried putting them outside as yet.

They are starting to get wing feathers all ready and they can't be more than a week

old almost.  At this rate they will be out of the that cardboard box before I know it.

17 September for me. I ordered 6 EE's from My Pet Chicken. I'm hoping for zero casualties. I've been working on the chicken fortess for a month now.

I'll post pics some day soon of what I did with the coop.

I have been taking my chicks outside everyday because a few of my chicks have figured out how to escape the brooder tongue.png. I would wake up in the morning and a chick would be either perched on the edge of the brooder, or screeching to get back in. Yesterday they were out in their coop for a full 12 hours and free ranged for at least 3 hours! Having them outside makes them feather out faster. Their wings are feathered and they are getting feathers on their backs, necks, tails, and chests. They are getting so big!

So how are all the littles doing at almost 3 weeks?  Mine got to spend several hours outside yesterday, under supervision in the chicken run.  At first I just had the babies in there and made the 11 week olds wait in the coop.  But after a little while I tried letting one pullet out, she did fine with them so I let another and so on.  I eventually had to separate my Barred Rock roo from them, as he was the only one being a bully.  Other than that they'd check each other out occassionally and would just go about their business like 2 separate flocks.  I'll continue to try and integrate them over the next few weeks, hopefully moving the younger group into the big coop by 6-8 weeks, as they will be much too crowded in the brooder by then.

Well my babies are 3 weeks old tomorrow. Sometime this week I think I will move them to the coop. I am going to section off a corner in the coop for them. Then section off a place in the run and cut another door for them. Hopefully this goes smoothly, I would be heart broke if they don't mix well with my older girls. It has to work there is no way my husband will build me a separate coop for them. I still think one of them might be a roo, he/she feathers are coming in very light in color. Time will tell!

How old are your older girls DianaMallory?  I'll be watching to see how it goes, as I work on integrating my chicks into the flock as well.

My girls are getting big! I'll have to post some pictures. The leghorn got named Yolk, as she will ATTACK egg yolk if you give it to her. They've got brothers and sisters now - I hatched some silkies who are two days old today. I'm starting to introduce them. Hopefully the girls will get some outside time tomorrow - it's been so rainy and wet here that it's hard to get them out.
