This is Mabel. She has been living on my porch for the last several months. She was suddenly being attacked by the flock, so I removed her and then noticed the beginning of her spraddled legs. At the time they were only splayed about an inch. Over time they have gotten worse and worse. Her quality of life is good. She spends her nights on the porch and her days in the shade of the yard. She eats and drinks, but not very much. She walks around, but not very much. I don't handle her much because there is no need, but the other day I picked her up and realized that her abdomen from below her sternum to her tailbone and from thigh to thigh is huge and round and hard as a rock! It's so bizarre. I have never seen anything like it. I am afraid she is going to blow up! Any thoughts?

Splayed or spraddle legs I believe is usually shortly after birth because of a slick surface (ie. newspaper) and I wasn't aware it could happen later. She appears as she might possible be eggbound. That might explain the rock-hard abdomen. You might try to research that topic as I don't have experience with it.
