I dont know why not... When you have some developing  and some not there may have been some damage during shipping, some not fertile etc.  You still have 25 viable eggs!  If you get 50% hatch from shipped eggs that would be amazing!!!  Try and have fun and not stress... easy for me to say to someone else lol! As I sit here stressing on the humidity in my incubator in lockdown. haha

Hey everyone. I just locked down today. Of my eight eggs, I've only got 1 that may hatch and 1 that looks like it quit about day 11-12. I'm really mad. I was looking forward to these eggs [gold laced orps and chocolate standard orps]

We shall see if the one that looks living actually hatches, but I'm not feeling very optimistic.

Kind of bummed that I've had such crap luck using the brinsea. I was having better hatches in the little giant :/

I won't stay sad for long though....I've got 12+ English orps in the mail, should be here tomorrow....they were coming from MD to NC, so hopefully the shorter journey will result in a better hatch rate.

Good luck to everyone else who is gearing up to lock down!

I'm trying not to stress out too much, definitely grateful for the ones I have that are still alive, just feeling nervous that we are only at the halfway point and worried about how many more I will lose before hatch day on the 28th...does anyone know when the most eggs are lost/culled, is it more towards the beginning of the hatch or towards the end?

Breeds I own: Orpingtons in Lemon Cuckoo, Lavender, & LF Chocolates. Golden Cuckoo & Birchen Marans, Cream Legbar, Norwegian Jaerhon, Golden Campine, Blue & Black Breda, GS Barred & Blue Plymouth Rocks, D'Uccles.

You all are making me nervous.  I don't lock down until Monday.  I hope that all that have eggs hatch will post pictures.  I am trying to resist the urge to candle constantly.  I am sending good luck hatching vibes to everyone! fl.gif

I am proud to announonce currently I have 4 blk Austras hatched out. celebrate.gif

The one that pipped so early was #3 @ 1:30 this afternoon.  When the first two hatched so quickly and I could see this first one trying so hard I was really getting concerned but ALAS it made it out and was noticably larger than the first two.

So, twelve more to go and currently I think there are 8 I see a little pip.  Can't wait to see the tiny bantam cochins.

Maybe pics later tonight.

Got my 1st chickens June 2012

Bantam Cochins (Mille Fleur, Black, Blue Mottled, Brown/red, Brown/yellow)

LF Cochins

Laying hens = RIR - Buff Orpington - Ameracuana - Dominiqer- Buff Brahma

Try not to be nervous :( I had a couple of disappointing hatches and was nervous this time but have decided to just do the best i can and learn more each time. Right now i feel more excited than nervous . Hope that proves to be a good sign !
