Fuzzy's Farm

Great to see you here, Fuzzy. I rarely get on facebook but guess I should. I'd have to look up everyone's real name - lol.

Got a question for you. My baby chicks are 8 wks and have moved into the big coop although they are not wanting to associate with the big girls as they get pecked. When do you take them off starter feed and what do you move them to? I know you shouldn't put them on layer feed until later but don't know what to feed them right now...

I always have to look up the when; i move them to a grower or finisher. I think 8-10 weeks is standard though.

I found that covering the pellets with water makes them fluff up and be soft. Big girls like it too. That helps when you want a certain one but it only comes in pellets but the little turds want their baby crumbles. !!! Can't leave the wet feed out for long or it spoils, but you could free feed dry ones and use the wet as a backup.

Use plenty of dishes of food; big girls can't be EVERYWHERE

Hey Fuzzy, Nova, Savannah, Gail, and all those of you I've missed. Cause I've really missed you. Anybody want to start the 'Farm" up again? Winter is drawing nigh and we'll have some time. What's been happening chickwise and other wise? Here at Sleepy Hollow we have 5 grandbabies now and 7 new chickens. My run over floweth (hmm, don't think that's spelled right). It;s been pretty calm here although now we've got "Charlie" who is a 6 ft rat snake who loves coming in the girls coop. Freaked me out the first time I saw him in there but Charlie does help with the out-of-control mouse population so now he's a permanent part of SH. Here's a pic of oldest granddaughter (Lillian) going out to get eggs.)

Come back, Come back, Come back, you all!!!
