How do you pronounce "diatomacious" earth?

I looked for it at Lowe's and Home Depot and they didn't have it.  Is it something you get at the health food store?tongue

I think it's almost like Judy says... DIE-AH-TOM-AY-SHUS...Could be that Boston accent though. lol

i get "die-tomay-shee-ohs" earth at the pool supply store.  i don't know for sure if it the same kind used wuith chickens.  what do you use it for?

The pool supply store stuff is toxic to chickens...don't use it near them.  Some health food places carry it, but you can order direct from Perma Guard I believe.  We get ours from McGeary Organics in Lancaster, PA.  Please make sure it's food grade, for your chicken's sake.

The one use of diatomacious earth that I'm very familiar with is as a biological filtering media for aquariums....which is why you can find the stuff at fish/aquarium stores, though the independent stores are most likely going to carry it on a regular basis as opposed to large chain companies like Petco and Petsmart.
