HELP!!!! My hen Is ill.

My oldest Ex-battery hen called posh has gone down hill rapidly. yesterday she was running and flapping around the garden and now she's hunched up not eating with her tail down and her wings hanging and not moving. She doesn't even acknowlage that in coming any more. please help me. I dont want my Posh Bear (nick name) to die. hit.gif

I love chickens!!! I have 1 Welsummer, 3 Ex-Battery hens, a Wyandotte Hen and a Wyandotte Rooster. Phoenix LF are my favourite breed of chicken and I am constantly on the look out for a trio for sale in the West Midlands(England).

I'm so sorry posh bear is ill. I'm new to raising chickens and have no idea what is wrong.  Hopefully someone else will give you some good advice.  I do think you probably should  keep her quiet and warm, away from other chickens.  I will pray for her and that someone with more experience comes along to help.  Is there a poultry vet in your area?  Or others that raise chickens? Keep us posted.

My neighbour raises lots of chicks but i dont know if he is in or not

How old is it? And have you tried a mash mix for it to try and eat? Check and make sure it hasn't been bitten by any snakes.

If it's been hot, bring her in to air conditioning for a few days with water and food.  I had a hot one who did that and she was inside for a week before she was well enough to go out.

You need to separate her. If you have a dog crate that would be good. Bring her inside and give her fresh water and some yogurt. Could she maybe have eaten something poisonous?

What does her poop look like?

We don't have snakes or poisonous animals and it hasn't been hot . Her poo is sometimes solid and sometimes watery. I have no create because I have no dog. I have a horse stable?
