Im getting chicks but I live in charlotte and its almost winter can anyone help im a begginer. When can I put them outside.

if you are getting day old chicks you will have to keep a heat lamp on them for a while. they need to be at 90 to 95 degrees for the first week and then drop 5 degrees every week after that until they are fully feathered.

If you purchased them from a website there should be instructions there new chicks. Otherwise, they like it very warm at the beginning. I'm thinking 90-100 first week. If they are peeping and huddled together then they want it warmer. If they are all scattered away from the lamp then it's too hot. Each week adjust the temperature so that it is five degrees cooler. Do this until they are acclimated to the outdoor temp.
