How do you heat your coops

I brought my chickens into the house in a big cage yesterday as it was going to be 22 below zero last night, but when I brought them in - I noticed a little frostbite already on all of their combs.

What kind of cream do you put on the combs? Is it to prevent OR treat frostbite? How often do you apply it? Is there any particular brand that you think works well?

Neosporin when it's already frostbit. (Antibiotic) make sure it does NOT have the pain reliever "caine" in it. Caines are toxic to birds.

Bag Balm (Green square Tin) for protectant against. Much better than Vaseline. Goop it on the tips so it's thicker. Reapply each night.

what a nice coop you have! I haven't heated much due to this community's help. Since they are in a small space and it's dark during the day, I do put in a light bulb so they have some sort of "daylight", they seem to like it, they move to other side of coop if it's too warm.....put in a 65 W bulb for that today as we have alot of snow now. They were outside doing their chickeen thing all last week but it began to snow Sat. nite and just quit today, more due end of week. The won't go outside in it....flat out will not. Snow blind I think ;)
