I would love some ideas as to which breed produces the most eggs, which are the quietest (neighbors you know), and any other advice I can get (feed, heat, etc.).
My husband and I live in a medium size city in Westchester, NY. We are planning to get some chickens in the spring. My aunt and uncle had a farm in upstate New York where I spent a lot of time and they raised, among other things, chickens. So I do have some background but it has been a while. To date I have checked zoning (which allows chickens but not a rooster) and we have sent for various coop plans. We are also checking the area to find the closest vet that "knows" chickens. We would like to be ready to obtain 4 to 6 pulleys hens in the spring. This venture is solely for egg production, not meat.
I would love some ideas as to which breed produces the most eggs, which are the quietest (neighbors you know), and any other advice I can get (feed, heat, etc.).
