Bought from a breeder as Ameraucana.New pics.Is it the red??? - Page 4

I'm just thinking - if I were already someone who shows (and apparently wins) and I wanted to start showing a different breed - wouldn't you research that breed before you bought them?

I've been thinking similar thoughts.  I researched the breeds available from the feed store before I bought the RIRs and BRs.  What did pullet, straight run, etc mean.  I wanted eggs, have kids and dogs.   Which breeds would be best for us.

Does she just 'claim' these awards and show birds? Or do you know of her reputation... it does sound a bit scandalous sad  I mean, anyone can pay their dues to a club...right? sad

I'm new to the area, chickens, fairs and 4-H.  Prior to this the closest I'd been to a live chicken was at the zoo.  I was stupid.  "People show chickens? Really?"  A chicken's a chicken right.  Girls will give you eggs and boys will get you fined.  Easy enough, just buy girls.  It honestly never occurred to me that people would scam you on a chicken.

As for the fair, I thought a bunch of kids with their little projects, thats nice.  Like parents night at school "Look what I made Mom."   Having never even been to a fair before, much less participated in one, I've been going into shock.  Strict rules and regs, this is serious business.   Props to you 4-Hrs.  

According to her DH the papa Brahma was purchased from Iowa and they could provide me paperwork if needed.  He said she wanted another roo and wouldn't have sold us Lessa if they thought she was a roo.  And they believe the EEs are pullets as well.  I take that as she purchased a champion roo not 1 she raised and showed.

I got the feeling from things he said that newbie though I may be, she may be quite new at it herself.  Seriously, I google Ameraucanas and it doesn't take too long to figure out mine have got to be EEs.  He says they're the same thing.  Um no, I beg to differ.  So maybe not so much I got scammed as an idiot selling to an idiot.

I guess we'll just have to wait it out.
