Leghorns are great egg laying chickens. They are friendly to other Leghorns and can easily fly. The only problems is that they are bad in the pecking order and they can make a mess of the yard....

I know I can't be the only one here addicted to the Animal Planet channel. They do these great show about cat and dog breeds titled Cats 101 and Dogs 101. I just sent them an email through their websites' contact info about a spinoff of that series: Chickens 101. There are definitely enough breeds for many shows and with the increasing interest in chickens, farming, and self sufficiency, the series should be a hit. Maybe if enough of us write in, they'll make it happen! What do y'all think?

I've seen the "Too Cute" series recently. I don't recall the 101 series shows, but I LOVE Animal Planet. It would be great to have a show that's educational and offers realistic advice on health issues, hatching, brooding, coops (not the estate type but the type real people can afford and maintain!!), etc. Even better would be a live show that does real-time Q&A.

Hmmm....I bet there are some BYC-ers out there that could host, script and run such a show!!

Parents of assorted small flocks of LF and Bantam Cochins, Silkies, LF Andalusian, WFBS, Dominiques, Buff Orpingtons, EE, GSL, BSL, Phoenix, Sumatra, Yokohamas, Faverolles, Orps, Std/Bantam Barred Rocks, RIR and one lonesome Lavender D'Anvers roo and more.
