PICTURE OF FOX

Thread Starter

Here is the fox that got my 4 chickens...only had a camera to shoot him with roll

He looked really skinny...sorry...he ran off too fast before I could focus again.  He was sitting around like he owned the place...

Hope he isn't rabid!!

He looks like he has mange. It would be best to dispose of him. He will most likely die anyway.

That is one unhealthy fox. It has mange, if you have dogs or cats they can get it too. Treatable but no fun.

The Delightful Dozen: 2 Barred Rocks, 2 Gold Laced Wyandottes, 2 Black Australorps, 3 Americanas (EE), 3 Rhoade Island Reds, 2 English Cockers, 20+ Parrots various, 1 Albino Corn Snake (escaped but not forgotten, hope I don't find him in the nestbox one day!) 3 human offspring, 1 DH who is building and revising the Chicken Coop Palace! http://birdgrove.blogspot.com/

Especially if you have dogs and/or cats. Better safe than sorry.

That fox is definitely sick with something. Do you have animal control that can come out and trap or shoot it for you? If you have dogs or cats - keep them away from any area this critter has been in.

I had a feeling he did not look heathly....no dogs or cats...just chickens here but neighbors have dogs and cats. I'll get on the horn to tell them.  old

I'll set up for the dispatch...going to be an early morning tomorrow.

yep, definitely mange. Which makes me wonder, Can chickens get mange or is that just for mammals?

you would do him and yourself a favor by disposing of this animal. he has mange very badly and his immune system is very weak leaving him veaunerable(sp?) to rabies.

I'm just a country boy trying to make it. we have a small flock of mixes and new hampshire reds. visit me at WWW.myspace.com/firem3 check out the tractor i built. i think it turned out pretty good.

I am just wondering, if you shoot an animal like this and then call animal controll to dispose of the body for you.... will fine you for anything?

Or should you also shovel and shut up?
