just remember... you are only ever sewing 2 pieces together at any one time and if your following a pattern a clever person has worked out how big they have too be! It dosnt get any more complicated than that!

I am not part of this swap but have been lurking, mostly to see the pics    Anyway I love kaleidoscope quilts I do more of them then any other kind.  I have a back stash of material suitable for them (although I am a bit rebelous when it comes to rules they aren't all cotton)

Just needing to move this thread up on my list.

I started cutting with a half yard each of three colors. I have to get another yard and a half but I may be wrong. How much yardage do you start with or do most of you use the fat quarters? I do like to mix up the materials. 

omg...............I run out of my ice blue fabric....................I thought I had enough *2xomg*.............Does anyone mind if I use an other bluish fabric.............so It can happen that you get 2 different blues in your block.............
 

As long as they match whatever you're matching them to, or look good together, it should be alright.

I started with a yard each of the colors and for the pattern I am using.  I didn't have much left. I'm always afraid of not buying enough and not being able to find additional fabric.  I live in the desert and there isn't much shopping so when I need to buy extra it usually means a 76 miles drive to where the shops are.  Since each one of us will only get one block it shouldn't matter if you have to change material on some of them Balefire.  It's fine with me.  I can't speak for the others.  What about you Marty?

It was so windy here yesterday I spent the day inside and worked on the blocks, which was fun.  I have a queen size quilt I need to bind but I don't have room where my sewing machine is now.  When I can get back in my sewing room (guest room) then I can get to it.  Escrow should close on my daughters house within two weeks so I can work on it then, after they move into there home.  The blocks work out very well for a small space.

Baustin, you live in the desert and had a very windy yesterday?  Me too.  I always looked at your location "Inyokern" and thought you were in England or something crazy like that.  Where are you?  You must be fairly close to me.  I'm in Fallon, NV.

I think Balefire was wondering if it would be ok to have two different blues in the same block.  At least that's how I understood it.  I would prefer one blue or different shades of the same blue but two different blues would be ok if they complemented each other.

ETA: Not that England is crazy... the names of some of the places in England... well...

You aren't that far from me really.  Inyokern is off hwy395.  It's 340 miles from here to you.  It's funny you should mention England because I was born there and am now a transplanted limey.  I've lived in the US since 1948 when my mum and I came over after being bombed during WWII.  I was 8 years old.
