Texas AM - Incubator - 1st time! - Page 2

O.o I was reading that they hatch anywhere from 17-18 days, but may take as long as 21 days.

For bobwhites I read at day 18.

 

So confused! There's too many articles and too much information everywhere! haha
 

For buttons and cots I've read that people say to stop turning at 14/15 days because they should hatch 17-18. 17-18 days provided that my temp did not flux a lot especially later into the incubation.

 

I just saw one of my eggs rock this morning >.> I'm not sure i should be interfering....

Well some people report good hatches even if they don't turn them? I've been OCD about turning, so maybe all my turns in the past two weeks will make up for these next few days.

 

My humidity has been between 40 and 60 since I sorted that issue. I only made it a tad more humid on day 14 due to some people saying it should be at least 70% humidity for hatching, but some reported bad hatches because the babies basically drowned. I don't want to shrink wrap them either! So I'll keep it in between and see how it goes. I'm pretty sure this won't be my only hatch and I've already drawn up plans for a better bator :) It's kinda addicting >_<

Haha no worries I do appreciate the help though. The links in your signature helped me out with my shipped eggs! I figured you thought I had chickens or bobwhites.
 

It's day 17 :\ no movement. Maybe I was just seeing things the other day. Just because I'm so anxious I float tested the eggs. My humidity dropped from 65 down to 40 while I was at work!
So I float tested a few to make sure the humidity flux didn't destroy them :(

They're all low floaters. I'd say about 10-12% above water and i had a high bowl, so there was no bottom touching but other than the slowww movement of the water I saw no movement. I did see a couple air bubble escape one. I thought I missed a pop but I saw no pip.

AND it seems I was unable to see through them the last time I candled and out of cuiousity... I candled again. ONLY TWO of my eggs are actually 'living' or so I hope. I swear I see feet they're like little forked things kinda dangling in the shadow... they move ever so often, so I'm sure that one is still alive... just late. The other egg it's not as easy to see but it seems the air bubble got bigger? So it's just late as well... I'm hoping those two hatch by tomorrow or Sunday...

 

The rest were candled and detached air cells had killed 3 of them... looks like it's just bouncing around back and forth when i candled the egg. The rest were not as developed as I thought... IDK if they're dead but I figure if I'm giving up by Sunday, then I'll toss them all out at once.

Ordered more eggs. Building a bigger bator this time.

I guess humidity was too high... Two fully developed chicks with brown liquid around them. no movement.
im going to keep next hatch between 40-50 humidity. the highest my humidity was on the last days was 67
