Marsh Daisy

Her legs are definitely green.. but as for feathering, she's pretty much just red with some black on the tips of some feathers, not in any particular pattern.. her face is what made me start questioning her breed .. hopefully once she's grown I'll be able to ID her..whatever she is, I want more like her.. super smart and inquisitive, friendly to everyone and even the youngest chicks. . Now don't think the black has the green legs..it also has what looks like a beard going on, so probably some type of EE mutt..it was originally supposed to be a black olmec but I questioned that from the very start..
Thanks :)

yes me!  How much you wanna spend?  I have nice styrofoam box I can put them in. I'd say a three day supply would be about all that is safe seeing as I just have the two hens. The postage is the biggest cost since I have everything else.

I need an address. Are you ready for them now?  I'm selling my chickens but no one wants to pay a fair price for them. I refuse to give them away.

Sold the newest chick today to someone who knows what GF charges. I don't expect to get their price though, but I did pay $10 per chick.

What do you charge for eggs?

I'm going to watch this one closely.. she really is a doll.. I have no reason to doubt the girl I got them from..but she bought them as eggs and these were the only 2 that hatched..
If she's not, my feelings aren't hurt..she's still my favorite chicken, n that's saying a lot bc there's quite the competition. .lol

Is this a MD??
I got her when she was about 4 weeks old so don't have any baby pics..but she is hands down the sweetest girl (and I have Silkies and Seramas..lol)...
If she is..anyone know where I can get some eggs????

Eta...oops, forgot to add the pic..lol

The red one.. (black is supposed to be black olmec, but wondering if it may be a black MD if there's such a thing)

your little brown one looks like a brown MD variety pullett , I can't tell if that's is yellowing on the neck or not, (Yellow = cockerel) you might have gotten lucky!!! The black one, I'm not even going to try to guess! As for eggs, mine are laying nicely but I'm hatchibg everything that is laid! There is so much variation in what the chicks look like when they hatch I'm still floored by them I've had solid yellow to perfect chocolate chipmunks

On eggs, mine lay for 2 days on one day off for 6 days then stop for 7 days then start all over again. This started when summer started making it hard to set eggs for hatchibg or sharing!

I have one hen laying white eggs and one laying tinted. Maybe next spring I have 5 unrelated juveniles 4 cockerels and one pullett I'll be setting up pens up with these offspring maybe get with me next spring I'm horrible with remembering to get back with people if I don't get an email or message from them! I'd love to share the birds and eggs I'm not greedy!!! Very reasonable I want the birds to make it here! Right now I have a 100% hatch rate with what I have. Your juvenile looks sweet I bet she's a mess!?

I don't know if those help or not..no yellowing.. I'm about 99.9% sure she's really a she.. I have 2 others that I got with her (different breeds of course) and the boys are all crowing so far so on the slim chance she's a he, he's a late bloomer..lol..

I got ahold of the girl that I got her from..she's trying to find pics of her as a chick, but said she was chipmunk patterned, but more of red/brick color..

Of course, she or he..doesn't do me any good with only one.. I am thinking the black my be a late blooming boy..looks like it has saddle feathers coming in..I don't know enough about either breed honestly to say they're what they're supposed to be or not..but if the black is boy, I'll probably just let them pal around until I know for sure whether or not she's a MD and then if she is, I will be on a mad hunt for more.

Not sure what u mean by her being a mess tho? Lol.. you mean genetics?

It sure looks like a girl to me! By a mess I mean, mine are like toddlers into everything, never sitting still always aloft in their own little world going everywhere they are not suppose to be while the flock is safely where they belong!!!! In the yard! My MD spend a majority of their time on lock down, it's safer for them!!! That's what I meant they have no fear and will wander anywhere and everywhere !

Oh..lol..she's actually a pretty good girl..she definitely has no fear, and is always looking for something to get into, but I just moved her and the black, along with about 45 younger ones from the grow out room inside the barn out to a big coop with a HUGE (probably 60 feet x 200 ft) run, so plenty to do and still be safe.. but when they were in the barn, I'd open the top of a stall door and the 4 older (her, the black, a polish and a serama) would just fly up and out and hang out in the grass right outside the door..never ventured too far.

Man, I'm really hoping she's a MD.. if she's not, it's going to be next to impossible to narrow down what breed she is.. going to be even harder to get more like her if she is tho.. ugh..who talked me into getting my 1st chicks...

I realize this is an old thread, but thought I would put the inquiry out anyway.
I have two Marsh Daisy hens purchased from Greenfire farms two years ago.
I bought four at the time. Two turned out to be roosters, but one rooster had the
straight comb so I gave him away. Then I lost the other roo. Still have the origiinal
two hens which are still laying great. Beautiful birds with sweet dispositions.
I want to add to my flock with more of this breed. Is there anyone on this forum that
raises Marsh Daisies? I would love to hear from you.
Thanks.
