Hello!!! Welcome to another KBRN in the Morning! Im your host, Little Red Hen and on today's episode we will be addressing the issue of felonious cricket eating chickens, picky chicks and why the farmer is still taking our eggs even though we poop on them....But first!! A quick lesson in dust bathing for you fray-feathered hens out there. Are you doing it right?!



First step is to find the perfect spot, any where will do, but the flower bed is preferable. We know this because the Farmer's Hen gets very excitable. Im sure she loves to dust bathe too, but she never uses the begonias...which leads me to believe she has prepared the spot just for us, her favorite ladies!!



If you cant find a flower bed, the lawn will do. Usually in these locations, the Farmer gets excitable, so we can only surmise that he has prepared this area just for us. However, being Farmer, he isnt perfect, and neither is the spot to dust bathe. So make sure to dig out a good sized hole.

If its just you, one twice the size of your body is fine, but if you are with one or more of your friends, make sure to dig out an area about the size of the Farmer's truck. Once the hole has been made for you and your friends, vigorously throw dirt into the air to make sure you get full coverage. If there are roots in the hole, tear them up or vegetation may grow back. We cant have this. You never know, you may decide to come back to this hole next week. But never use the same hole in the same week, thats just bad fashion!



Now remember ladies, dust bathing is a special time for you to get to know your coop mates. Make sure to toss some dirt their way, they will love you for it. You know the old saying! You can dust bathe your self, you can dust bathe your friends, but you cant dust bathe your Farmer's friends! So the next time you are out wandering by the rose bush, give it a try! Its refreshing and gratifying!
