Lifespan depends on a lot of things. I've had several bucks that reached 10 to 12 years. Most of my does haven't made it to 6 years; word is that cancer in the reproductive system takes them down (I haven't done necropsies, so I can't say for sure about the cause, but I can confirm the much shorter lifespan). Of course, spaying a doe should significantly increase her life expectancy.

Some animals just drop dead, without any obvious signs of something wrong; other animals start losing condition, losing weight, and at some point, you have to "do something" about them.
Thank you, so they are similar to chickens. Now to figure the best way before it's an issue. I hope to years to go yet.

I lost my Stuart, he didn't lose condition, and he really didn't show many signs of anything wrong, he just seemed "off". They don't let you know they are sick as obviously as other animals.

It doesn't seem long enough, when you've already had your bunnies for several years :(
