I'm making a home made incubator.I have everything i need except for a computer fan waiting on my BIL to get me one he works on computers.Any way i bought my hot water heater thermostat at lowes.I got the single unit one. They also had top and bottom ones. The one i got looks bigger than some of the ones on here in the home made incubator section.Didnt know which one to get.The temp ranges from 90-150 degrees. It has 4 areas to screw wires to.Did i get the right one? Will this one work? Its a 6 pole thermostat with high limit 120-480 volt. Can any of you please help me!!Thank You in advance. My bator is gonna be a old plastic igloo cooler if that matters.

This is the one I used.....

I think I was going to buy the one you described, but I got this one at Lowe's for around $8

Hope this helps

Yeah mine is the simpler one like the picture.I ended up keeping it about one finger width away from my heat/light source.

I use that little small one and I also drill holes in it to get them to react faster to the temperature. Check out this video on how to do it. I just finished mt 2nd freezer bator and it works great.

Hi everyone!Good morning. Well my dad said he thought that the bigger one would work.He has been a vehicle electriction all his life. And wired homes from the pole to the house,Small electric stuff around the house also. But He is not a certified electriction. Now if the bigger one will work i will keep it and use it.(save gas ) II dont want to cause a fire or burn my home down either. So what are yalls opinion?Even thou yall use the smaller one would the bigger one work?

Yes,your just interrupting the circuit,so the sensor can control when it completes the circuit.Just tell him to to look up an example of it on this site and try it.Be careful and avoid those hot wires.I did it and im no electrical genius.I dont take responsibility for anything that happens though.

You say you have everything you need....Out of curiosity, what are your plans for the incubator? Did you pick one to copy from the site, or do you have your own plans? I went with almost all donated materials, (mini fridge, light fixture, rigid insulation, plexiglass, even the adhesive spray - my only personal expenses were the 100w light bulb and the thermostat). We're getting 70-80% success rates with this contraption, and with a few winter upgrades we hope to get over 90%.
Good luck!
