Hey Chillin with you Peeps,

I have Seramas! They aren't laying at the moment...just had 4 hatch. When they do I'd be happy to send you some. Can't promise you when though. But I will keep you posted in case you haven't gotten any by then. I'm in Texas so getting them to you fast is important. Also, the hatch rate is low so I can't promise you all will hatch. My hatch rate is often only 50%. I don't know if that is normal. It actually may be higher since I had some younger Seramas adding eggs into the nest of already landed eggs by my seasoned mama. Since the hatch rate is so low I'd be happy to give them to you for free if you could pay the shipping cost. I'll find out how and what that would be and get back to you. From Texas it might be hefty and you may be able to find some closer to you in NJ.

Let me know if you if you are interested and I'll check out the shipping details and then keep an eye on my peeps for new eggs. BTW! I think it's great that you want to raise them in the classroom. They are awesome chickens and beautiful to boot! I was a elementary school teach for ages and know how much kids love this kind of thing.

All the best-

We've found that Serama hatch rate on USPS shipped eggs is very low. Air sacs get loosened, and these wouldn't hatch.. But we did get some to hatch and have six wonderful young Seramas (adorable all!). Some came from nice people here (we're very happy & grateful)!

You may want to practice hatching "normal" chickens first, as we did (Leghorns) and sell or give them away if you don't want them. We have 4 Leghorn pullets that we kept - very nice birds - we're very happy with them too (and just starting to lay!!!).

my Wife had to "rescue" 2 serama chicks in hatching - 1 pipped upside down - and one just was stuck and weak - because we had at least some experience and because of great advice on byc regarding when and how to help chicks hatch - my wife saved these 2 - which otherwise would have died.

It's hard enough to hatch normal chickens, so do practice!!!! Also do read up here on byc because you can do more harm than good in trying to help a chick hatch - unless you have great advice (and there is so much great advice here!). Good luck!

i have seramas but i am in the uk
