My 3 Pet Geese...Sweetness, Fights and Bullying [with pics]

Well, unfortunately we had to sell them as they scared our guests and wouldn't stop bullying the chickens and had a go at my partner. We ended with only 1 female who died as it got egg bound (we weren't there) and the fox had it as it wouldn't leave the pond. The other 2 males we had to sell, I miss my Mais terribly. But it is better this way.... I guess you don't have geese now though have you!

Sorry you´ve had a sad experience with your geese. You guess I don´t have geese?

When we moved to Brazil we bought a field and built our house here, and had space for chickens, ducks, geese...........
I got 3 tiny goslings. They grew up. They were wonderful, so tame, easy. I got 3 more..adults this time, one gander, 2 geese. They had goslings last year. I kept one gander for the first 3 females that I had, and sold the others. This year they´ve had goslings. I now have 7 adults and 15 goslings of various ages (see Goose-breeding thread these past weeks), I think they´re fantastic. Not one is aggressive, one gander just hisses when I pick up the babies, the other just watches. I can take anyone down to see them......I think you just got the wrong ones. Some breeds are more nippy than others. I love mine.

Hi Alexandra,

It gave me great pleasure to read about your geese
Such a lovely story!! :)
your Mais sounds a lot like my Guardian
He's the sweetest boy ever!! Now, he must've learned that I like to cuddle him
so when I approach holding my arms forward, he would stop and let me cuddle him
he would run his bill in my hair as some kind of response, he never bites me when I cuddle him

Couple months ago, Guardian "mated" with Milk and now they do everywhere together
Guardian looks after Milk all the time and stops Sugar from bullying her
Milk has also gradually built up her confidence again

I swear I've seen Guardian tried to climb onto of Sugar to "mate"
at least twice
but both times, Sugar resists and chase Guardian off
still no idea what Sugar is....maybe a She-Male...HAHAHAHAHA~~~

We live in South Devon, so it's not that far from u
there are probably more farm shops around here and I'm sure I'm seen a sign for a local vet somewhere
but I don't fancy spending £??? just to find out what gender they are

Really lovely to have read about your geese
I posted a newer thread recently...don't know where it went, but it was probably titled as "snowy goose babies"
u can still that Guardian still loves to pose for pictures :D

Happy Geese Keeping ^_^

Here is a place to send feather's from the chest area that only cost maybe $15.00. You just get three feather's from the chest area put them in a zip lock and send them and get results of sex back... http://www.healthgene.com/avian-dna-testing/
