I am wondering if I am able to tell the sex of an Muscovy duckling by voice. They are around 7 weeks I believe. The white one makes a loud chirp sound more then my other one. It also makes the cute cooing sound. It also a little bitter then the other one. I am going to wait a week before I post pictures of them. The other one makes more cooing sounds. So I wonder people can tell the gender of muscovies at this young of age.

only when they are older and breeding time comes around but u can tell from size and other features before the voice is apparent

Voice sexing in muscovies and especially at this young age can't be reliable. I've got little to none experience with ducks as I'm now raising my two first muscovy dudklings which I only recently could tell that they were male and female but opposite to what I thought they were when they were little fluffy creatures.

You'll have to wait a few more weeks.

Pictures could be more helpful from the side and from above, focusing on their body size and their legs as a group.

Is it possible? yes, harder and less reliable though. My last trio of young ones were all ducks and you could get honks/quacks out of them well i should say the older birds could

at less than 2mths.... That said with my last clutch hatched here by 5wks it was apparent i had a single duck out of a clutch of 9, sizing, feather development etc all indicate the sex of Muscovy.

To give a quickie idea... here are two of my last clutch... both the same age obviously.. you can tell who is the girl can't you?

Do they both sound the same for the first 8 weeks and make a funny trilling cooing sound? I should make a video of them doing their sound. I am going to wait till next week to take pictures of them. One of them has angel wing and I am trying to solve that problem.

Yes and no, a ducklet will start to honk/quack at less than 8wks but that said the drakes can vary in the amount they hiss/huff... it's really not the most reliable way to tell.

They both don't make an honking quack sound. I never heard a honk from an Muscovy duck, does it sound almost like a goose. They both make soft sounds, unless I pick one up and it makes a loud squeaky duckling sound.

I don't have any geese to compare too lol I have a large flock here (17) so my girls definitely make more noise than probably a pair or a few would make. Sizing is much more reliable to sex young Muscovy, not all females birds voice often, they also have trills/coo sounds that they make, i have one duck get within 10in and she honks whereas i have others you'd have to squeeze them to make the same noise, that said males can vary on the age they get their full huffing/hissing sound but fwiw they never honk or quack.

This is pic of my last trio all girls roughly 2mths old in this pic...

Do you have any pictures of yours?

Here is some pictures from today and try to get a picture from the top, side and front. Telling the gender of them is pretty hard and I thought the voice would give a clue. They both make the same sound.
