4th Annual BYC NYD Hatch-a-long

Good morning all. I am drinking an extra cuppa coffee this chilly morning!

and here I got excited because the news was talking about 80's returning for us lol. I am a wimp and dont do cold well at all. Prefer to swim on Christmas day than have to bundle up on any level. At 60 i am chilly and wearing a jacket, at 50 I am cold and we build a fire in the fireplace.

It was 20 when i got up this morning. Not too cold, but cold enough. I lived in the interier of Alaska for a few years and saw -70 F now THAT was cold!!!

I'm getting chills just thinking about that. I'm in the South for a reason. I survived one New Jersey winter, and that was enough for this girl. (Girl, HA! I'm almost fifty.)

I fell behind, oops. :p

Just thought I'd say thanks for this. I'm going to try it :D

Seems the temp doesn't really bother the eggs/chicks from hatching so far. Though this morning my extra thermometer said 95.7 and I set my eggs last night :/ I bumped the temp on the bator to 100.5 for now.

I fell behind too!  Glad I could help :) .  I'm crossing my fingers for a Brinsea for Xmas, but my Husband just gives me a frightened look when I mention it... so....

:gig

My fiance does the same thing!

I'm asking for the GFQ Gensis 1588 hova bator incubator for christmas, it sounds much better than my 1602N hova bator.  Do any of you guys use this incubator, would you recommend it? I happened to come across one for $100 today, but it's for today only so I would need to make my decision quickly.  Also, if I bought it today, estimated delivery is before December 6th so I would be able to use it for the hatch along, If I acually get it. :p
Cochins,

This is the incubator I have. There is a lot of room in it, and the temperature reads differently than the other thermometer I use. As long as you can regulate the temperatures and set it that way - it works wonderfully.

:D

Invest in a separate thermometer and humidity gauge. You will save tons of money with better hatch outs. Place you incubators out of all drafts, surrounding them with cardboard works wonders.

Ok did a head count on the eating egg flock today for those interested in some of their eggs for hatching.(cause honestly I couldnt remember what all we had in there lol)

Oooh me me (waves hand frantically)! I'd love to buy a dozen or so, I only have 1 hen laying so it was going to be a very small hatch, lol.

Bahh I don't know what to do, I want a small incubator and a cheap one for my first time so I was gonna get a chickabator or a mini dome. But now people are telling me it's bad and I don't know what else to buy so then I saw another small one for over 100 dollars and I can't afford that right now and now I find one for 50 dollars except it's bigger than I need and I still need to buy christmas presents but I really wanna participate in the hatch-a-long. AHHH I NEEED HELP!
