HELP!!!!!!!!!!! ALL of my hens have stopped laying eggs!

At least she's not broody anymore. My girls are freeloaders too... for some reason yesterday I only got 2 eggs. IDK if it's b/c I let them out to range too early (around noonish) and the others didn't get their eggs in (none in the yard, but a couple were in and out of boxes, but never laid). Today I got 4, 3 brown and one from my bantam... It just doesn't make sense b/c I should have 4 girls laying just about every day as I have to tetra browns, and 2 amber browns... I've seen each of them enter and empty box and leave an egg behind. I'm fairly certain the partridge rock is the only one who is consistently laying, besides the bantam. I did finally get a couple of my ladies to start laying in another box, so that's something. Another post said they may need more protein so I'll toss some peas out to them tomorrow. I'm giving them layer pellets that are 16%, but I've also been giving them melon rinds in the evenings b/c it's been hot lately, so maybe that's the problem. I also took their rooster out of their pen last week (he was hurt and they were pecking him) so IDK if that change is affecting them. I just put him back in tonight so we'll see if that makes a difference. I don't think anything is eating the eggs b/c last weekend I left an egg in 2 of the boxes since my fake egg didn't seem to appeal to them (they kept kicking it out of the box). Since then the prop eggs have remained, and I've been finding eggs along w/ them periodically. I would think if I had a snake visiting they'd be gone as well.

I've noticed the same issue. It's only early September here, so I know daylight is not yet a factor and only my 2 roosters are molting some right now, but we've had maybe 2 eggs in the last 1-2 weeks! After reading lots of the posts on here, I'm wondering if it had something to do with having two broody hens at the same time. We noticed they were broody- taking up TWO of our three nesting boxes. One of the hens would get kicked out of the box now and then and a hen would lay her egg, then broody mama would go back. But I couldn't leave them in the nesting boxes to have mixed eggs, nor did I want them to hatch in there (it's up high) and risk the little ones getting injured. So we moved the first hen to her own nursery pen. She wasn't too happy about that for sure! But accepted it after a few hours. The other mama got more defensive after that (she wasn't so before). A few days later, we moved her as well to a second nursery pen we set up. After that, ALL of the hens (I have 12 total...at least 6-8 are consistent layers) stopped laying it seemed!

I'm thinking that the disruption to the hen house of moving the mama's out, plus the fact that they were hogging the favorite nesting boxes?? After reading this thread, I'm hoping they get back to normal now that the "would-be" mamas have been returned. (NO chicks...the hens kept killing the eggs, and the remaining eggs just died/rotted...quite nasty and disappointing.) Was really hoping a hen would raise a clutch for me. now I'm wanting a few eggs to raise a clutch myself!! The majority of our flock is 3 years old and about half of those girls are no longer laying. I have 3 who are younger (just 1 1/2 years laying now I think?).

Daylight actually could be a factor. We lost an hour of light between 8/1 & 9/1. Daylight is rapidly decreasing. Chickens need 12-14 hours of light to lay well. Here in SE PA my daylight is down to 12 hours & 23 minutes right now. Light is the #1 factor affecting egg laying. I am sure your two broodies didn't help!

Help! All of my hens have suddenly stopped laying eggs. I have 21 chickens(including 2 roosters). A few of my hens are old and don't lay anymore, BUT my Silver Laced Wyandotte hens(6 all together),BLRW and a few other mixed breeds don't lay eggs anymore and seem to have no interest in doing so. My chickens are free range,so I thought maybe that they were laying them outside somewhere. I kept my chickens inside the coop for 5 days..and nothing. I thought maybe they were eating their eggs...
so I stayed in the coop as often as I could to catch them laying and take their egg before they had a chance to eat it....and nothing. They weren't even going in the nests! My SLW and BLRW are all young, approximately 1.5 years old. What could be wrong?! This has never happened before. They are fed scratch, laying pellets and scraps(breads, veggies, left over meats etc.). Anyone have any advice or even know what's happening? We are just feeding them and they aren't earning their keep(we don't eat them though, let them die of old age) They are very healthy and beautiful birds(even the old ones). About 6-7 of them went broody this past summer and about 5 or so molted..but that's been all done for weeks now. I don't know what to do..I need their eggs. Thanks in advance!
Sounds like you are doing everything you're supposed to do. I have found my girls slow down or stop laying in the winter months. sad but true....
