SHE LEFT ME AN EGGGGGGGGG THIS MORNING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She's is eating great, pooping good, full of fiestyness, lets me pet her, very aware of her surroundings, picking at a treat block with lots of interest, ate a grape after pushing it around and finally figuring out it is edible and 'GOOD momma GOOD!!!! more please'.  She will be just fine. Now I need to get her feathers to grow back in.

I looked at all the caged animals in the barn...the cast-offs of human society. I saw in their eyes love and hope, fear and dread, sadness, and betrayal. And I was angry."God," I said, "this is terrible! Why don't you do something?"God was silent for a moment, and then He spoke softly, "I have done something," he replied.  "I created you."

Wondering what breed she is.... (not that it matters really.) I think she is to small to be a Buckey (the guy had nothing but what he called Heritage Breeds), not a RSL.

Aw, poor thing! Lots of extra protein...

At the very least, wipe the poop off your feet before getting in the car.

Hope will repay your kindness with love, and it sounds like she will be pretty amusing too.  Soon her poor bare backside will be covered with feathers.  From photos I've seen, some RIR can have pretty dark feathers.

I think I may have done a better thing than rescueing her you guys!!!!! I 'had' to go back to the farm today to drop off some soil test kits for him to have his pastures and crop fields tested. ( I could have mailed them) I 'happened' to have an extra copy of the Storeys Guide to Poultry book with me. " oh wow! look what I have handy!" snicker snicker.  When I got there, he had his two pigs that were up to their wahoo in poop out in his field in a temporary fenced in area and was cleaning out the poop.

He was happy to see me and thanked me for bringing out the kits. I told him a I had an extra copy of the book, handed it to him and asked if he wanted it. He took it, opened it up and saw some stuff on building nest boxes and grinned at me!!!!!!!!!!!  He told me that he had rounded up a roll of extra fencing and wanted to know where I though he should put the pop hole for the girls to go in the wall. HOLY COW BAT MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yupr, he wanted my help in farm planning and now that includes his animals.  He is open to suggestions and seems to be excited about the future with them.

Cross you fingers ladies and gentleman. cross your fingers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!   fl.gif

He did actually ask how Hope was doing. I told him she left me an egg this morning and he smiled and said 'thats great!"
