Anyone have any experience with Porter's Turkey and ordering birds? They have some beautiful and interesting varieties, but they seem less than interested in customer service or selling birds.

I find them slow to respond, short with answers when they do, and almost annoyed that you asked questions.

Anyone have any experience with them?

Anyone have a recommendation for another producer that has great birds and good customer service?

I have not had any dealings with Porters I have ordered numerous times from Cackle Hatchery and have had good results.
I don't know about customer service I haven't had any problems to need to contact them other than to order and did that on line.
My Red Bourbon Poults all made it and that's great since there so fragile birds at that age.

I have had mixed experiences. I have e-mailed and talked to Kevin on the phone, and he has been great at helping me when I was starting to look at turkey genetics. I have also had two e-mails go unanswered.

I would have loved to order some birds from him, but I did not. He has some great looking birds, but I found he really did not respond to my questions or my emails. The emails I did get back from him would be very short couple of words. I guess my expectation was he would be a passionate turkey man and be happy to see others get into the hobby. But my expectations may have been to high because it was more like dealing with one of the big box store hatcheries. Disappointing really given the amount of money you have to spend to get the birds. I found a local breeder that had some birds, so I bought a start from him. Good luck...

Well I'm just ordering I'm not rlly talkin

I've had good experience with Porter's Turkeys http://www.porterturkeys.com/

But I did not have to ask alot of questions. I just ordered what I needed.

As a person that has a lot of animals and a website, I understand what it is like to get numerous emails per day. With chores that take up most of daylight hours and even barn chores that take working into the night. It can be hard to keep up with emails. Writing long responses to emails comes down to time wasted. It is so easy for anyone to take 30 seconds to send an email asking questions that will take a lot longer to write a response. Manging time puts email responses last on the last. At least now with Blue Tooth I can talk to customers while doing chores as I then have both hands free.

Or I get small breeders that sell birds and then tell THEIR customer to contact me and ask questions because I raise lots of birds. The other good one is people that tell me my birds are high priced and they can get them cheaper some where else. Then weeks later, they email asking questions cause they are having problems with the birds they purchased somewhere else.

We have porters birds also and were very happy.

I also agree, and am not a strong typer. and as a computer person I will tell you with all of the JUNK mail and mail filters E-Mail is NOT completely reliable. we have e-mailed with questions and were answered within a few days, but we were also not asking advice, but we also ordered, so that might have helped. We WILL be placing another order I am sure of that. (as long as KrisH doesn't read this)
