Homing Pigeons

Hello ,

Dose anyone on here have homing pigeons , If so I would like to know more about them were to get them any info or links to good sites would be helpful , also could they share the run with chickens or would that be a no no .

I used to have homers, they were great. They are a cinch to raise. I don't see why they couldn't share with chickens, but I'm not sure.

They are extremely prolific and you will end up with too many eventually. They will also attract wild or feral pigeons, so you'll end up with other pigeons pairing up with yours, if you let yours out to fly.

One warning about pigeons is that the dust from pigeon droppings can cause irreversable pulmonary fibrosis in some people. I actually cared for a woman with this condition (I'm an R.N.), she had advanced lung disease resulting from this, and is on a transplant list.
