Peachtree City, GA: Let's change the ordinance!

I was looking online to find out the ordinances here in peachtreecity to keep chickens in the back yard. I have 1.5 achres here. I dont know much about whats going on but Id like to help out if I can. Maybe someone can fill me in.

I'm sorry I didn't see this sooner, currently it is against PTC ordinances to own any poultry on any residential lot regardless of size. If you'd like to get involved with changing that, please read through this thread including the latest post. There's contact information and opportunities to make yourself heard.

Update!

HUGE apologies everyone, the date for the Q&A I posted yesterday is NOT correct. The forum was on Tuesday night, if anyone went and can share how it went please let us know. Apologies to anyone that this inconvenienced!

All I have to say is watch Food Inc. and you will then change your mind on even stepping foot in a grocery store. I vote for the change due to wanting to eat healthy and to show our kids where our food comes from and how to take care of another living creature. Thank you so much for the fight. If you need anything just let me know.

Thanks,

Ashley Sharp

Please, can you tell me if the law change in Peachtree city about backyard chickes as on February 2016?

Hi Scrappymj, As far as I know the law has not changed. Peachtree City residents are still not allowed to own chickens, I do know there are more chicken owners here compared to a couple of years ago. A friend of mine came across 5 hens hens along a cart path near the library. Which I find funny.

thank you quack quack, that's sad! I want my hens to go to Peachtree City with us! :(

I do t understand why the laws are so difficult to change.? Why were they enforced? What can we do to change this? I live in powder springs ga and new law just passed in Cobb county. 5000 square feet per bird I believe. That seems outrageous still, but supposedly a win for us.

Do you know if the PTC ordinances have changed to allow chickens?
