Linden hung his head and listened to Raven. He couldn't think of anything more appropriate to say than the elf's song, so he just listened with his heart and hoped that Pike knew how much he would be missed.

Two months had passed since the men had left and Raven sat in one of the trees lining the edge of her island. She stared out over the water, watching the forest beyond. Many of her kindred had come, bringing their pets and their friends to end the threat the bandits and those that worked with them had brought to the woods. She glanced back, looking over the now teeming island and sighed, she had come to miss the sound of the common language men spoke.Two months later...
The rescue party, sans Pike, had caught up with the caravan on it's way down the far side of the mountain pass. And the group managed to make it to the next town without further incident. The pass itself was, by now, covered in snow and ice and would be impassable until spring.
Terrick, wrapped in a heavy grey cloak, limped into the smokey tavern, still using a cane to help get around. He sat down at the bar and ordered an ale, then another. It was 2 months to the day since the fateful attack on the caravan and he thought about the men lost that day, downing the second ale in their honor.
He sighed, pondering what the spring would hold and about his promise to the elven princess...
