I ended up using Feather Fixer all the time because of the mixed flock I have. Both sex and age.
I've seen the loose poo thing mentioned a couple times. My best guess is that what's actually causing the loose poo is that the feed isn't transitioned gradually so like any other creature if it eats an unfamiliar food the intestines act up a little bit initially. The same reason you transition your dog or cat gradually to a new food. I doubt that the chickstarter itself per se is causing the diarrhea but rather the sudden food change.I didn't think the chick food would hurt the adults. Maybe give them some loose poo but I haven't seen any. I just hate that they seem to mow through the chick food. I have a main bucket feeder with Feather Fixer then put out 2 jar feeders of the chick food. All far enough away from each other that no one needs to feel bullied. Everyone likes the crumbles better but Feather Fixer only comes in pellets. They eat it, after they throw it around a bit.
