A Bielefelder Thread !

Pics
As they have not been shipped yet can you not cancel your order?
I am guessing that he bought one of Greenfire's auctions. So no you cannot cancel an auction that you have won without being banned from that site for non-payment. Placing a bid is a legal contract for purchase. I would be surprised if anyone actually buys directly from Greenfire's website. Everyone buys through the RBA site. They have Bielefelders on that site almost every week. There is one right now that ends today and is only at $45 for 15+.

Yes, I did buy from the auction so don't want to be banned. Even if I had purchased directly I would not cancel because its not fair to the seller. BTW that auction will not end at $45. Most bidders wait till the last hr. I had also bid on the CCL Jill Reese at $60 8 hrs before auction close but they closed at $332.

Actually sometimes the auctions during the week do close lower. The Jill Rees chicks are still new and there are a lot of people buying them to try to flip them for a profit. I know one of these chicken flippers. She is a nice lady but I personally disagree with the practice as it artificially drives up the price of new breeds. Once the market is flooded, the flippers dump their current stock and then move on to the next big import. But it is a free country and I do understand that some people make a living selling chickens.

I expect today's auction for 15+ Bielefelders to close around $150. That's about market rate for straight-run "everything that hatches" auctions. If it were just pullets and no cockerels, it would easily be double that price. It does go to show that the cost of Bielefelders is dropping which is a good thing as it will make the breed more popular. I plan on selling Biele pullets for $15 in the fall, down from the $25 I did in the Spring. I never charge for cockerels.

Yes, I won them close to that price and am not trying to make any money off it. If someone is interested I will send them a screenshot of what I paid. Its also nice to know that there is a source for eggs and chicks in case I have different arrangements at home in the future.

Pics taken today of started birds

We had 1 more cockerel, but he got a ride from here (Washington State) to California, and he is now living the life in NorCal !
Love to see pics of him sometime, Karen !

Look at you branching out in a new breed!
Heck no, had em' for a while, just not so much into posting pics & blogging as I used to be..but I fully intend this breed to be my "retirement" breed, a new crop of Silver Cuckoo Marans, a new crop of Blue Copper Marans, and nothing else 'cept peaches & Pekins...LOL

Oh and I got a surprise for you !

Check this out:
GLOW IN THE DARK plastic rings !

Quote: I was in a panic the other day i couldn't find my zip ties with all the colors I needed and I searched for about 2 hours.... finally I gave in and drove to walmart NADA... only white zip ties. So I had to find something..... I got some of those, not glow in the dark though LOL. I picked the same colors I use in the little ones LOL. made things easy. I have a new cockerel cuckoo growing out I think I am going to try him with a few girls soon. I am hoping to get a few bielefelders growing out for me too.....

I am not going to go crazy with chickens anymore.
I am settling on just the 4 breeds (maybe go down further) and spend more time with my art and less time scooping poop & spending so much $ on feed.
We are NOT doing meat birds anymore, and more than likely no more ducks either.

I am getting tired of 1) spending so much time on line and
2) feeding the world (as DH calls my egg sales)

Time to retire, go fishing, paint, do some tye-dye, some Macrame, some stained glass.

Aren't those rings cool ?
LOL
I almost got the blue 'tye dye' ones too !

I'll still ship eggs to those who find me though...I do not know if I'll advertise.
You have to send me your new e-mail addy.
hugs !!!
