Far worth the ranking loss. We'll catch up during the first blizzard.

Not sure if I lost all my marbles yet. I had this wild hair idea to load eggs in the incubator already. Well this weekend yielded 9 bantam faverolles and 9 silkie chicks. At the time I thought it was a bright idea to do it and not battle with frozen eggs and the few eggs I get out of my silkies anyways. Glutton for punishment with chicks in the house all winter again. So much for waiting til after Christmas.
I think it's a great idea. Brings new life into a home during the dreary winter months.
Where do you keep them?
Chicks this time of year, who'd a thunk it!
Scandiafowl I brought my own hairy female with me. Pearl thought she was in heaven. I even let her sit on the couch, if I put a blanket on it. She was upset one morning though.
I let her outside and she started barking like their was an intruder at the cabin. We went outside to fid a grouse on the canoe rack of my buddies pickup. She spent about 5 minutes barking at it and looking at us as if to say " Aren't you going t shoot it?"
I went for my shotgun but my buddy was very adamant about me not shooting it off his truck. He can be such a PITA.
My DW did not go to the cabin she had to stay hoe and take care of the birds. Someone had too.
We have very hard fast rules on Bobcat operation.
Woman may not sit on the seat of a running Bobcat.
Woman may never touch the key in a Bobcat
Woman may clean the oil and grease back up off a Bobcat
Woman man lock the dogs when a male is switching equipment on a Bobcat.
Now, I am not uncaring, I know the temptation the Bobcat would present to Judy, so I took the Bobcat with me on Vacation.
I am a very considerate husband!
BTW if you ever see the Mrs again, no sense mentioning these rules to her........

I could store the Mikes for you until you figure out what to do with t?
BTW I ran out of Mikes on Thursday and forced to drink beer after that. Who would have thought a 12 pack would not last the whole trip!
Funny stuff happens with steel shot and quarter panels. Good thing you had you're thinking cap on for dear Pearl and your friend.
I think that egg scale is definitely worth bigger bucks too. Newerish looking ones they want $30- $40. That ones a 'tique for sure. Jealous!
Run is 'Saran wrapped' for the winter. And I have the north and west walls of my coop interior layered with Reflectix. It's wonderfully easy to work with. Will dabble with it some more this week. Also got my straw bales up and around the base of the coop, plastic on top of them so I can re use if they're still in good condition. And fresh sand, DE for the dusting tub in the run. I need wood ashes for it yet, though too.
I also made a chicken swing Saturday. No takers yet. They're too busy ranging through the leaves in the woods. They love that I rearranged the bales in the run though. Rifling through those for seeds.
My stored grass cuttings are getting thrown out I've decided. Moldy. Ish. We'll wing it with spinach and kale bags as we've always done and maybe I can find an alfalfa bale to flake off once in a while.
got leaves all done today,, well till more fall. I shredded them then tossed them all in the run.. I love my chicken coop run.. I got a couple of those chicken balls and im going to hang them instead of letting them roll around.
since it was cold out i quilted a couple rows together...
coffee, that's gorgeous!

The other coop I'm still pondering. I have a covered run between my sheds but I'm afraid if I tarp it, I could have snow load issues because the roof is flat. Thoughts? I can take some photos tonight to show what it looks like
The two sheds are about 11 feet apart and I have a 2x4 brace spanning between the sheds every 4 feet with chain link fence stretched across it. The whole area is 11'x20' or so. I could add vertical braces to the 'rafters' to add additional support perhaps
