Mine are all from tractor supply so the coloring is across the board according to standards but I agree, they are pretty. I also haven't had the poor temperament that some people talk about. They keep a wide berth to me when I'm around but they are nice to their flock mates.
Yes, I think I have said it before, those SLWs from hatchery stock are notorious snots toward other chickens. I swear, every one someone tells me about or they call me about that his beating up and drawing blood on other birds is an SLW hen.
I lost a Bantam Salmon Faverolle today. I combined a pen of three pullets with two crossbreed pullets. The Favs had pecked up tails so not long feathers to sufficiently cover their butts. It looks like the two little black crossbreeds decided that the Fav butts were something to peck at. So, one is dead and the other two I had to pull back out and they both had bloody butts. I sprayed them with BlueKote and we will see if they make it through tomorrow. I may end up losing them both. So, SLWs aren't the only snots that will be aggressive.
