She hatched my chicks last year and was an absolutely awesome mom but I don't have room for any more! I barely have room for the ones I have!
And on a scary note, my neighbors had a marten and a mink at their bird feeder within minutes of each other this weekend. I'm hoping the scent of my two dogs will keep them away from my property! I left the coop open today since it's so warm, I hope I don't end up regretting that decision. I'm quite surprised they didn't kill the neighbor's chickens, their bird feeders are directly above their coop and run.
Hasn't anyone told your neighbor that you shouldn't put wild bird feeders near chicken coops? Wild birds can spread diseases and parasites to chickens, as well as invite predators to the flock, and rodents that no one wants around.
I think we all need to have a hanging rabbit cage at the ready for breaking broodies. One of those things on my to do list once I have an open rabbit cage.
