Minnesota!

Does anyone near northern mn near me find other breeds of chickens other than from feed stores? I would love to find someone I could incorporate a few other breeds here. I'm getting chicken itch crazy to add to my girls and gent now. First time chicken owner. They have a heated insulated coop and 37 acres here.

I know there is a guy named Duane Urch by Owatonna mn. If he is still breeding or not I dont know. Minnie is done breeding purebreds for the year. I have some Cochins I would sell. I also have mixes. Those r the only ones I know of.

Can you put pictures of them here ? We visited s friend who had beautiful mix of pretty girls. It was a nice site to see. I would be interested. Not in raising small babies but maybe starting at teens.

Hello Everybody!
I seem to have caught the hen bug, all I can think about is adding a couple more hens to my flock

I've looked at craigslist but nothing seems to have caught my eye. I am wondering if you guys have anything available. I am interested in many different breeds. here are some of the breeds I'm interested in: Welsummers, Marans, Americaunas, Speckled Sussex, Orpingtons, Rhode Island Red, Delaware, Cochin, and Silkie. I'm not picky, but i would prefer pullets because I already have too many roos!
Thank you

How soon are you looking?

I have mixed, a couple BA's and some cream Legbars, I might get rid of but I need to wait and see who is a hen and whom is a roo... No Americaunas but I have EE.

I am just not sure of anything right now.

Duane is also done for the year. To ship chicks you need a minimum of 15-20, and right now I know SpeeDee (who is cheap to ship birds with except the special $20 box required, is not shipping any birds of any kind until the whole AI thing is gone). It will be a tough time finding chicks from the usual breeders, but ask around on Craigslist to see if anyone might have some up in that area that a broody hatched or something.
I do have birds right now to go, but I am too far away. If you know anyone coming this way though, ask them to stop and pick some up. Sometimes it happens. That is how Bogtown got Dixie, hubby was hunting or something silly like that ;)

I really am not a great authority on genetics, but I do know a little. I have a 2" thick book here on the "Genetics of Fowl" I keep meaning to read. LOL
