Emu Hatch-a-long 2012

Wow, things happen fast.......just took the kids out to the bus, came in and egg 1 hatched. I got it on video.......I have to run to work but I will post it tonight. I'm naming this one Sydney.......cuz she is Australian after all.

Pogo spent the night in the chicken brooder with my meat birds.

I took Yoda's advice and ran to Home Depot and purchased a small piece of outdoor carpet 6x8' for $12 bucks and a 6' piece of wire shelving for $5 - for under $20 bucks Pogo has a new home with room for his friends.

Great idea, I'm going to do the same after work. I have a large dog crate I'm using for the first week or so. The indoor/outdoor carpet in easier than a towel.......as a towel may slip.

Hi all,

So I've had one of four eggs hatch this morning. Two more are moving but I can't hear them yet. Is it common for emu eggs set the same day to hatch a few days apart? Is there a good chance these could hatch still?

Day 57 for one egg still moving but no chirping - this one has me worried

Day 51 for 10 eggs - 7 have good movement and all have lost 15 -16% of their weight

Pulled three cold to the touch and if I move them back and forth I can feel sloshing - Will open up "after" breakfast - the smell gets my wife a little ****** off.

Checked for sounding and I can hear chirping from the next batch - Tap tested and moved 4 into the hatcher.

Here's little Sydney......one day old. Egg 2 has sounded, and egg three is still moving. Can't wait for them all to be together, hopefully soon!
