I found and repaired immanently. My new pup had dug a whole under the fence, so I filled it in and put a concrete block on it.
My babes displaying! I've seen them a few times across the yard etc. this is the first time I had my camera and they were close. So funny! They are from June hatch. Every time they do this it's a chain reaction. One displays then a min later the other starts.
Then it's Oh crap "Mom" is leaving us! Haha!
Mom and I will order ours soon, hope that' okay! Probably today, but I'm not sure, so soon.
Poor thing! Some people! I'm not sure, since it's in her beak, if there's anything you can do beyond just keeping an eye on it anyway. Hope she heals well!
I love my Plymouth Rocks, too. Such attention hogs! I have partridge and barred girls, but I think their personalities are great no matter the variety. They're a close second favorite to Dorkings for me.
Yeah, people are crazy when it comes to correcting breeds. I've reached the point where I want to correct things like the RK signs, but I'm not sure I'm up to the effort of convincing people I do actually know what I'm talking about. Easter-eggers are an especially touchy subject, too. I was reading a conversation on FB the other day where someone asked if their Easter-egger might be a pure blue wheaten Ameraucana, and when they were told that no, he is an Easter-egger, the owner started ripping on the pictures of true BW Ams that people were posting and saying they looked like mutts as well. It was like, what did you expect when you asked? Really...
How adorable! So out of curiosity, does that mean they are both male, or do the young females do this, too?
I hate talking to people about EE's any more. They act like I'm being mean... I'm not just trying to help them learn something, I was happy to learn the difference, guess I cant understand why everyone don't want to learn.... oh well
Thought I would share some pictures of the day. The girls are unimpressed with the snow, but unfazed by the cold or otherwise.
Lots of milling about, scratching and pecking:
She Who Sleeps Standing Up and Fancy the Partridge Plymouth Rocks, and Skua the red sexlink, just chilling.
She Who, looking quite severe.
This is the path down to the doghouse, which has clearly been popular (Skua makes another appearance here) :
These crazy birds have also been eating the snow! Maybe they think they can eat their way out of winter or something.
Georgie the Black Copper Marans. These were the shots of her after she cleaned every bit of snow off my boots.
Frou-Frou the Splash Marans
Rosie the Sebright, otherwise known as the cutest little birdy in the coop
They're even eating snow off of each others' beaks! (It's Skua again, too. Not sure why Debra Jo was cooperating for this!)
They also got a dust bath going in the coop addition:
Biddy-bird the supposed-to-be Speckled Sussex, clearly the center of attention:
Of course, there are some grumpy faces. Whiri the Light Brown Leghorn and Huka the Silver Lakenvelder are clearly not having any of this winter stuff.
And to finish up, here are the two crazy ones, Ihi the Golden Campine and Marama the Fayoumi, who have decided now is a good time for a molt. Why, girls? Why?!
Good looking girls all. Sorry you had o do all that shoveling, I'm so glad we have not had that much snow yet this year and hope we don't the rest of the year!!!!
I have 1 in my back room with my baby goat, he has upper respiratory problems and is not liking his meds. but is loving being back inside with mom ( me ) again... he tries all the time to get back into the house, he don't like any of the flock, always alone.
My guys showed none of the signs you are talking about. Sorry. My guys were fine 1 day gone the next. Sorry for you loss wish I had something helpful to tell ya.
I'm sorry to hear that hun.
What is with all these Roosters dying all of a sudden? almost every post I have read about a bird dying has been Roosters? All mine have been Roosters too???????
Very bad winter for them I guess, this stinks!!
I want to wish all you " hatchers " out there good luck and cant wait to see pic's
