It makes me laugh! My Big Boy gander puts on such a show! My oldest of the three geese, Snowy will stand up so I can look at her eggs, but she is 3 years old now. She knows I won't take her goslings or eggs away once they are brooding. I never named the Embdens.. they are not my favorite breed but sure watch out for my overall flock. BB (big boy) just stuck, that's what I always call him so I guess that's his name lol.
I don't let yearling goose hatch themselves anymore, have learned the hard way they tend to trample the babies if startled and are not mature enough to protect the goslings. Makes me think the ganders know it too. They only guard the mature goose hens when they brood. My chinese ganders are watching the rest of the flock and the non broody geese hens.
