Thanks!  The leghorn seems just fine today.  I have no idea what was going on, but I'm going to keep her in and watch her. 

Brrrrrrrr  I just talked to our Canada chicken friend and she's having -22 degrees (not including wind chill)...and her barns are NOT heated...

How do those birds keep those skinny little toes warm?

Sorry to hear about your chicken that didnt make it. Glad the leghorn is doing fine today.

Is everyone letting their chickens out today? The sun is out but the wind chill is really cold. 

I usually just let mine decide if they go out or not.

The only time I don't let the door open is if the wind is blowing toward the door and the wind chill is really low.  Since their door is on the East side it shouldn't be blowing that way very often.

I just went and checked mine.  They aren't drinking as much water as normal but that could be because 1/4 of the water had a thin layer of ice on it.  I'm guessing the rest of the water was pretty cold too.

We have had easter eggs out there for a little over a week, but the chickens are treaing them like toys and scooting them out of the boxes to play with them.  I will try golf balls later this week.
