Blue Laced Red Wyandottes??

So the birds all have the same leg color? Looking back, my laptop I was using last night was also giving me some weird colors on pics, so that's a good thing. I'm seeing a bit more of the wyandotte shape now. The only other thing I see is the black in the rooster's tail and neck feathering, I don't know if that's a problem from a showing/breeding standpoint.

I'm with you, I like the splash laced birds as it offers the most contrast. Makes for some really pretty birds!

Yes they do have the same leg color but I wouldn't say they're identically the same shade and I have read on other threads that it's ok for the male's shanks to be a different color than the hens as long as the feet are yellow. I think I read that correctly at least....

I also noticed a few photos of Roosters in the "Blue Laced Red Wyandotte" thread in the "Breeds, Genetics & Showing" forum of this site and they do have black at least on the tail feathers.

Hopefully they are the real thing. I've also seen that color and combs are the east part but it's the true Wyandotte body type that is the real challenge to accomplish when breeding these.

They sure are pretty either way!

Oh, they're absolutely the real thing. People were just trying to decide if they were show/breed quality or pet quality.

The look more like pet quality. In your first picture of Hen 1, she has better color(less brass-see how she has almost a blue/gray tint to her neck feathers) and better shape-once she regrows feathers, she may show some potential.

Ahh gotcha, ok thanks. Maybe I will eventually cull out the rooster and brassy colored hen. It's hard to find these guys and as I said, I paid a lot for them.
I did get my hands on some Golden Laced chicks just yesterday so hopefully I will have luck finding some better quality BLRWs in the near future.

Check out the BLR thread-or the Wyandotte thread....lots of folks with good birds there, can't hurt to see if anyone has some for sale.
