Getting the flock out of here - a diary of a crazy chicken man

But won't they all be white due to each chick getting one copy of the autosomal dominant gene from the mother??

I'm not an expert on the subject but i know i need a white female covered by a red male

now if i only figure out which ones with the correct color will work

I'll be in good shape

Will this help?

It should, I think... I believe it is based on whether they are silver or gold based, rather than actual breeds or colors... I can't remember exactly, but tadkerson does mention other crosses that can be used, the charts just show some...

It can't hurt to test it out! Good luck! Btw, I LOVE your Orps! :D

thank you Mpgo

i am getting some information saying that leghorns will not work

if that is the case i will sell them @ 8 weeks of age & get some Rhode Island White chicks

i know they will work but they can be hard to find in some places

around here you can order female leghorn chicks at any feed store for around p100 each

White Rocks work great too. That what mine are.
