Sorry to hear about the fail. The upgrade should make it much easier to manage. We went from 'twist to set' to digital controller and it was just so much simpler, and honestly, relaxing to know it did not have to constantly be checked.
Will be completely different machines then, just a shame it had to be learnt with such a loss.
There are some great candling threads on here, if you can get your hands on a printer, maybe print them off, bind them for your next trip, that way, Bernie (happy birthday too mate) will have colour pictures and a day by day chart. I assume he does not have the net to verify with. Just an idea.

I planned to take a binder there with candling pics as well as pics of the breeds I am hatching at various feathering stages so he has an idea of who is doing what.
I can tell as I specifically differentiated colors or other features (such as 5 toes) when I decide what to hatch at one time.
