Just added the word "lathe" to my vocabulary. I remember those were fun to work with. I think I still have the tissue paper holder I made when I was 12. I don't know what happened to the baseball bat.
Oz, if Bernie takes advantage of the opportunity you're providing for him, he will have a bright future ahead of him. I hope he can commit to it.
You're starting to have quite a lot of kids at the farm, would it be possible to start an even larger operation, sort of a daycare, where others could bring their kids too and as a form of payment they would pitch in when you need a larger workforce on bigger projects? Just something that popped into my head, and you're probably not interested in parading loads of locals through the farm, but still, an idea.
TTmom, the worst I've seen was a planer that took the end of our shop teachers finger. I've also heard of a girl getting her hair caught in a drill. The look where girls shave one side of their head was not as popular in those days... Oh, and one of my high school class mates got her hair tangled in a electric mixer once when she was taking a look into the bowl of cream she was whipping. She had a bald spot for some time.
Deb, they've even made edible materials for the 3D printers. I don't think the printable pizza is something I would enjoy eating, but they can make that. Also, the plastics they usually use are better nowadays. And the printers have gotten a lot cheaper. I think they start at around a grand. And I saw some project where you buy one machine, and then you can use it to print the parts for making more of the machines, that's pretty smart too.
